Power admixture -- a forceful, hard-driving,and belligerent even tuneful fashion of heavy metallic element associated with headbangers like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensrÿche, Helloween, and King Diamond -- got started in the '70s and reached its commercial extremum in the '80s. But after the '80s -- afterward Nirvana and Pearl Jam radically reshaped rock music in general -- military group alloy (which is tight related to phantasy alloy) was considered old school and wasn't nearly as bountiful; the predominant metal expressive style of the '90s and 2000s has been take turns metal (a full, far-reaching term that has been applied to everyone from Hammerlock to Rage Against the Machine to Sevendust). Nonetheless, some modern exponent metal bands surfaced in the '90s, and their melodious as yet fast-growing approaching path was a reversion to the '70s and '80s. Like Sweden's Evergrey, Argentina's Jezabel, Italy's Rhapsody, and New Jersey's Symphony X, Germany's Iron Savior is a '90s/2000s band that is untouched by post-'80s eL metal; unapologetically retro, Iron Savior is mindful of Priest, Maiden, Queensrÿche, Helloween, and other bands from power metal's prime. Everything about Iron Savior is retro in a '70s/'80s-like fashion; from their show to their guitar riffs to their epic, fantasy-band lyrics, Iron Savior takes listeners back to a time when Saxon, Grim Reaper, Savatage, and King Diamond reigned supreme.

Iron Savior was formed in Germany in 1996 by ex-serviceman headbanger Piet Sielck, a many-sided singer, guitar player, producer, engineer, and keyboardist wHO had been in a very early card of Helloween back in the early '80s. It was in 1996 that Sielck (world Health Organization has no problem vocalizing and writing in English despite maturation up in a rural area where German is the primary language) recruited singer/guitarist Kai Hansen (of Helloween and Gamma Ray fame) and drummer Thomen Stauch (world Health Organization had been with Blind Guardian). Along the elbow room, Iron Savior has had its share of lineup changes. Both Hansen and Stauch make since left the circle; some other ex-member is drummer Dan Zimmerman (world Health Organization has as well been with Gamma Ray and Freedom Call). Reportedly, Hansen left Iron Savior on friendly footing with Sielck; after decision making that trying to split his time between Iron Savior and Gamma Ray was elbow room excessively demanding, he opted to simplify his life and concentrate on Gamma Ray alone. In 2002, Iron Savior's five-person lineup included Sielck (steer vocals, guitar), Joachim Küstner (guitar, screen background vocals), Jan Soren Eckert (sea bass, screen background vocals), Andreas Kuck (keyboards, background vocals), and Thomas Nack (drums, percussion). Iron Savior's self-titled debut album was released in 1997; it was followed by Unification in 1998, Interlude in 1999, Disconsolate Assault in 2001, and Consideration Red in 2002.

Jacob 'The Jeweler' Arabov, Diamond Merchant To Countless Rappers, Sentenced To Two-And-A-Half Years In Prison

Rappers had better stock up on their yellow-diamond tennis bracelets and sapphire-sprayed platinum chains, because the king of bling is going up the river for a while. Jacob "The Jeweler" Arabov (sometimes known as Jacob Arabo), 43 — the infamous New York diamond merchant who has outfitted countless rappers, NBA players and even one-time Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani — was sentenced Tuesday (June 24) to two-and-a-half years in federal prison for lying to investigators about his part in a multistate drug ring run by the equally notorious Black Mafia Family.

According to The Associated Press, Arabov, who pleaded guilty in October to falsifying records and giving false statements, as part of a deal with federal prosecutors, was given seven months off his potential three-year-plus sentence for his extensive charity work. He was also ordered to pay a $50,000 fine (barely enough to buy one of his low-end chains) and forfeit $2 million to the government.

"I feel ashamed that I broke the laws of this country, a country that has been so good for me," Arabov, a Russian immigrant, said in a statement. "I will carry this shame for the rest of my life."

Arabov has gotten shout-outs in multiple Kanye West songs ("Touch the Sky," "All Falls Down," "Diamonds from Sierra Leone"), not to mention tracks by 50 Cent, R Kelly, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Fabolous and Young Jeezy. He was arrested at his Manhattan shop in 2006 and accused of being part of a conspiracy to launder about $270 million in drug profits. Officials dropped the money-laundering charges against the jeweler as part of his plea agreement.

He was among 40 people indicted in the scheme orchestrated by the Black Mafia Family, which ran drugs out of Detroit beginning in the 1990s. Arabov will report to prison on January 15, and the judge in the case said he might have to receive drug treatment while in prison because he tested positive for cocaine following his arrest.
